These priorities are connected. Safer streets, effective support for people in crisis, dependable infrastructure and stronger neighbourhoods improve quality of life while making Greater Sudbury more attractive to families, residents and businesses.
Support effective local policing, prevention and by-law enforcement while pressing the Province for a justice system with the court capacity, corrections and recovery supports needed to deal with repeat crime and help people successfully return to the community.
Move beyond managing homelessness. Strengthen shelter, housing, mental-health, addiction and recovery supports so people have a safe place to stay and a realistic path toward stability and independence.
Prioritize roads, water, sewer, drainage, sidewalks and existing public facilities—and aggressively pursue provincial, federal and other funding so essential repairs do not fall entirely on local property taxpayers.
Invest wisely in community centres, recreation, parks and shared public spaces that give young people, families and seniors places to connect and help build neighbourhoods people are proud to call home.
A city that is safer, more supportive, better maintained and more connected is better positioned to attract new residents, employers and investment. Growing the assessment base spreads municipal costs more broadly and can reduce the pressure for future property-tax increases while helping fund the services our community needs.
